Constructed circa 1915 in the tradition of the archaic vaudeville and movie houses, Granby Theater has been restored to its original splendor with modern furnishings, after having been vacant, forgotten and run down for nearly two decades.

The majestic interior, with its immense vaulted ceiling, and many unique features, like chandeliers and original hand painted proscenium, have been retained. The interior walls of the theater are lined with tall pilasters topped with Ionic capitals.

Elaborately restored plaster medallions, ornaments, capitals, and trim of the interior are covered in gold leaf. The Granby Theater has become the jewel of downtown Norfolk.
