M.S.G., The Acoustic Blues Trio follow in the rich tradition of the Piedmont Blues, handed to them directly or indirectly by legends such as Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Boy Fuller, Mississippi John Hurt, Etta Baker, Elizabeth Cotton, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee.

Jackie Merritt - Harmonica
Jackie, from Hampton, VA., is an accomplished musician and visual artist. She performs in several bands: M.S.G.-the Acoustic Blues Trio (harmonica, vocals, guitar & bones); Blues Xchange (bass & vocals) and The Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation Band (harmonica & bones). Jackie was Phil Wiggins’ harmonica teaching assistant for three years at Augusta Heritage

Miles Spicer - Guitar
Miles, demonstrates the distinctive technique of the Piedmont style in his playing (alternating thumb and finger-picking). He’s from Riverdale, MD. Miles is currently the treasurer of the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation. In addition to M.S.G., he also plays with the Riverdale Ramblers Cajun Band, and the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation Band.

Resa Gibbs - Vocals
Resa, lead vocalist and percussionist for M.S.G.- The Acoustic Blues Trio, is known for her warm, soulful and heartfelt sound. She also performed lead vocals for FEVER, a popular electric (six piece) blues band in the Hampton Roads area.

Resa sang background vocals on Gaye Adegbalola’s Bitter Sweet Blues CD, produced by Rory Block and recorded by Alligator Records. She also contributed background vocals and vocal arrangement assistance on Julie Clark’s debut CD Feel Free (Great Big Records). Her latest vocal contribution is on the 2008 CD project by Gaye Adegbalola entitled Gaye Without Shame. Here, Resa sings a featured duet with Gaye and adds backing vocals to several tracks. This CD is produced by Blues Music Award winner, Bob Margolin. She will also be featured on Julie Clark’s 2nd CD, Change Your Mind.

Resa has been an assistant instructor at Augusta Heritage Center’s “Blues Week” gospel vocal class (Elkins, WVA) and in Summer, 2008, will teach a vocal workshop at Centrum’s Country Blues Week, Port Townsend, WA.
